Dog Breath

I also wanted to share a picture of the cool present Lin got me for Christmas. I have such clever people in my life!!

In case you can't see it, it reads:

"Me and My Pups Vineyard
A fine cabernet with notes of dog breath, shredded hair and kibbles b bits. Perfect for any occasion."

I love it! Thank you Sis Sis!

One piece for the house, 18 pieces for my mouth

I feel ill. Not only am I thinking the same kind of "what have I accomplished this year?" ponderments as Lin, which always gets me in a somber mood, I have eaten the equivalent of 23 bags of confectioners sugar in the past 2 days. You see, Em is back in town for the holidays (WOO) and this year James decided we should make gingerbread houses. Not the kit kind, of course. Those are for weenies. (Yah right). Let's print out blueprints and make everything from scratch!!! WOOOO. Now that's what I'm talking about. The house actually came out pretty good, the second time around. The first time the roof was too heavy and collapsed. But my artistic talents are more evident in this house versus the one I did with Lin. Teasing. I still have no gingerbreading talent. Luckily Em is an artist-in-training. But I do have a talent for eating chocolate malt balls. A very strong talent. Which is why I am lean cuising it today. I thought i'd share a few photos....

In Love with a Vampire

So my besties Em and Katy mailed me all 4 of the Twilight series books once they discovered I was like one of 6 females in America that still hadn't read them. I toodled around for a while..I had a couple of other books on my list first. But now, less than 2 weeks since I started the first one, I find myself done. The ride to Indy is long, but these books were like some sort of crazy addiction, i couldn't put them down! And now that it's all over, there is a bit (okay A LOT) of sadness in my heart knowing it's ended. I still have the movie to look forward to, and I just got the soundtrack, but it's been such a long time since I felt so attached to book characters. In no way am I saying the literary genius of Stephenie Meyer compares to say, Wally Lamb. Bella is no Dolores. But getting so wrapped up in a story is a hard thing for an author to do to this book nerd. I mean, my reading was as ravenous as it was when I was 7 in Baton Rouge and trying to meet my self-imposed "50 books read" in 3 months during the annual Summer Read-a-thon at the local library. And now, still on the road, in the midst of a horrendous thunderstorm, I wonder. What can I read next? What will capture my attention without continuously drifting off to daydreams of Edward Cullen? One things for sure, I have definitely been bitten with Twilight Fever. My idea of the perfect man will never be the same!

I Scored in the Best Friends Department!!

Because my Donna Madonna Weekend wasn't enough of a treat to last me, um, 2 months? Look at the FABULOUS gift I got in the mail from Emily yesterday!! Even James was super impressed. When your boyfriend is excited to put a painting of your dogs in a superior location in your home, you're either dealing with an extremely awesome painting, or he's been hitting the crack pipe again. OR ELSE I HAVE FINALLY BEATEN HIM INTO SUBMISSION. mwahahahahhaahahah!!

It's a really awesome painting. The submission thing isn't working although Lord knows I try! Thank you Mrs. Johnston!!

The Names of MY Eighteen Children

In celebration of the birth of the EIGHTEENTH child of the Duggar Family, and seeing that I am one of like 3 people in the office today, I decided that I would list the names of my children if I were to ever have 18 children. Call it a pre-Christmas not want to be working little hungover from a Thursday night at home procrastination method. I love naming my pretend children anyway, I'm just curious if I could come up with that many names. I won't do middle names because i do have to get SOME work done today, and if i did that, i'd be writing this blog ALL friggin day long. So here goes:

1. Yvie
2. Annie
3. Molly
4. Kate
those are easy because i AM going to have four little girls named that!
5. Piper
6. Poppy (but not if I had a Piper, that would be too odd I think. Maybe. Piper and Poppy?)
7. Annalise (but I couldn't have an Annie and an Annalise, really)
8. Eli
9. Jonah
10. Sophie
11. Ivy (but again, couldn't really have an Ivy and Yvie, could I?)
12. Grace
13. Indira (HOW COULD I FORGET INDIRA??)
14. Sosie
15. Coco
16. Olivia
17. Caroline
18. Madeline
Because there are three on this list I couldn't really use with the others, here's my back up list:
Savannah (Vann), Liam and Iris.

I am surprised that I could actually come up with more if I wanted to. Well I guess if Heidi Klum can have a child with like 6 names (Henry Ganther Ademola Dashtu Samuel), I could just bundle like #1-4 on my list and use them all together.

The name game is fun, but I just realized something. Kinda of obvious, I guess. This lady had 18 kids, which means SHE'S BEEN PREGNANT 18 TIMES. Even I, who have wanted to be pregnant since like age 12 (weird I know), thinks that may be a little tough. Maybe I'll just adopt so i can use all my names.

What Art School Really Gets You

A crappy, but enthusiastically made, Gingerbread tree. The house was completed by my more artistic sister. I guess 30 hours of elective credits in London really just increased my drinking tolerance, and not so much my sense of color and perspective.

Unbelievable

Okay, so anyone that reads this blog (and I've come to find out there may be 3 or 4 of you...YAH!) knows that it's mostly me just talking about how wonderful my dogs are. Well, they really are. I am not usually the one to make any political rants. But I saw this article linked from Cake Wrecks, a blog I love that makes fun of ignorant cake makers, and just became infuriated.

Adolf Hitler Campbell Cake

How are there people out there, in America of all places, that feel this way? That think this way? I mean, James and I often have very different opinions on politics. For God's sake, he wanted to name Hurley "W." But to believe that Hitler was someone so great you want to name your poor child after? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? And they have a daughter named Aryan Nation? It makes me so very mad, I am just fuming.

I have one thing to say to you. Santa Claus is NOT making a stop at your house.

My Christmas Elf

We're going to see Santa Paws this weekend. I'm so excited!!

Role Reversal

So although I have been listening to Holiday music nonstop on Wash FM, IMing Lin "YAAAAHHH" anytime Mariah Carey wants you for Christmas, I'm still not really in the mood. It's been kinda cold, not really, and today's its just rainy. And to add to it, the homestate is experiencing the weather we should be having here. About 25 people of my facebook friends have added "Snow Day" albums. It makes me smile. Maybe that's what the Christmas spirit is all about. Finding the excitement in the first snowfall again. Of course, in Louisiana, the first snowfall happens about once every 15 years, so the excitement is understandable. And my cousin Jacob, who moved here from NOLA a few years ago, always texts/calls the second a snowflake drops in DC. He keeps it exciting even up here. Here's a pic from the Time Picayune...I wish I was in New Orleans right now. Snowflakes on the tongue and poboys in the belly. YUM!

Already? Really?

Yesterday when I was checking the mail I was amazed to discover TWO christmas cards. Is it really that time already? I've been listening to Christmas songs here and there, yes, but there are no decorations, there has been no egg nog, and DC has been a relatively warm 50 degrees. Maybe it's because I skipped out on Thanksgiving this year (plans changed last minute). Maybe it's because I'm not quite feeling the Christmas spirit or I haven't seen A Christmas Story on TV yet. Perhaps if I take Ick and Hurley to get their photos with Santa at Petco I'll feel more in the mood. In any case, I need to get in the spirit pretty quickly...it's three weeks away!!
